Ash of War affinity selection
An Ash of War corresponds to a skill and can be applied to compatible armaments, with an optional affinity infusion that can change damage values, scaling, or status buildup.
How it works
Each Ash has a native affinity, but the armament can retain Standard affinity or receive another affinity when the corresponding Whetblades are held. Ashes can be removed or transferred between weapons; the cited source also says they cannot be applied to weapons upgraded using Somber Smithing Stones.
