Understand The Birth of the Self
Useful when…
- An Erudition wearer whose kit includes Follow-Up ATKs.
- Situations where the wearer can continue attacking targets after they fall to 50% HP or lower.
What does the HP condition change?
At S1, Follow-Up ATKs deal 24% more damage. When the target's current HP percentage is 50% or lower, Follow-Up ATK damage gains an additional 24%; at S5, both increases are 48%. The extra increase checks the HP percentage of the enemy target, so the bonus depends on which target the Follow-Up ATK hits.
When should I compare other Erudition options?
A Dream Scented in Wheat provides CRIT Rate and increases Ultimate and Follow-Up ATK damage, with no low-HP condition stated in its effect. After the Charmony Fall grants Break Effect and a temporary SPD increase after the wearer uses an Ultimate. A Star That Lights the Night describes Assist Skill effects, including Energy recovery and stacking bonuses for Assist Skill and Ultimate damage. The latter's named Assist Skill condition should not be confused with an ordinary Follow-Up ATK trigger. Choose among these effects based on the wearer's actual attack types and the value of the target-HP condition.
What does superimposition improve?
Promotion raises the Light Cone through six stages. Superimposition improves both Follow-Up ATK damage increases from S1 to S5; the example steps consume a copy of The Birth of the Self. Its low-HP increase is conditional, so the always-listed Follow-Up ATK increase is the part that applies regardless of the target's HP percentage.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The additional Follow-Up ATK bonus requires the target to be at or below 50% current HP.
- It increases Follow-Up ATK damage, not all of the wearer's damage types.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying the extra damage increase when the target is above 50% HP.
- Treating Assist Skill damage as interchangeable with Follow-Up ATK damage.
