Understand Copper Helmet
Useful when…
- Wear it for 2 armor points when basic head protection is useful.
- Use Respiration to extend underwater breathing time.
- Use Aqua Affinity to increase underwater mining speed.
What does it provide?
The helmet equips in the head slot and supplies 2 armor points, with no listed armor toughness. Its maximum durability is 121. It can be crafted from copper ingots; possible Java sources also include abandoned camp chests and worn-mob drops.
Which enchantments fit?
Respiration extends underwater breathing time, while Aqua Affinity increases underwater mining speed. For defense, Protection, Projectile Protection, Blast Protection, and Fire Protection offer different damage coverage but are mutually exclusive. Unbreaking can reduce durability use, and Mending repairs the helmet when experience is obtained.
How can you maintain it?
Each copper ingot used in an anvil repair restores 25% of maximum durability, rounded down, and preserves enchantments. Anvil combination of two helmets preserves enchantments as well. Crafting or grindstone combination adds durability plus 5% but loses enchantments. Trimming is cosmetic and does not improve the helmet's strength.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its 2 armor points and 121 durability provide basic equipment value; the underwater enchantments are situational.
- Combining helmets outside an anvil sacrifices enchantments for a durability merge.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting a trim to add protection.
- Using crafting or a grindstone to combine enchanted helmets and expecting enchantments to persist.
- Choosing among protection enchantments as if they could all be stacked together.
