Fishing proficiency affects catch time, line breakage and escape chances, bait or tackle loss, and the size of fish caught.
How it works
Fishing experience is gained by casting a line into water or fishing with a spear, regardless of the catch outcome. The source states larger fish provide more experience per catch.
