Understand Balefire Surge
Useful when…
- Use on Hildryn when Balefire is part of the setup and charged direct hits can restore Shields.
What restores Shields?
A fully charged direct hit with Balefire restores Shields to Hildryn: 100 at rank 0, 200 at rank 2, and 250 at rank 3. Hitting Nullifier Shields destroys them and restores a larger amount: 300 at rank 0, 600 at rank 2, and 750 at rank 3.
What conditions should I meet?
The standard restore requires a fully charged direct hit. The separate Nullifier effect requires impact with Nullifier Shields. The supplied effect does not describe Shield restoration from an uncharged shot or an indirect hit.
How does it compare to other Hildryn augments?
Blazing Pillage adds Heat damage and additional Shield restoration to enemies affected by Haven; Aegis Gale describes an alternate Balefire fire during Aegis Storm that deals additional damage based on Hildryn's Max Shield. Both have conditions distinct from Balefire Surge's charged direct-hit recovery.
How should I rank it?
The augment has three ranks, Zenurik polarity, and base drain 6. Listed fusion costs progress from 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits for rank 0 to 1, to 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits for rank 2 to 3. Maximum rank raises the charged-hit restore to 250 Shields and the Nullifier-Shield restore to 750.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Requires Hildryn and a Warframe slot for the augment.
- The primary restore requires a fully charged direct hit; the larger restore is specific to Nullifier Shields.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting Shield restoration from an uncharged Balefire shot.
- Applying the 750-Shield restore to ordinary targets rather than Nullifier Shields.
