Understand ByteRyte
Useful when…
- Testing an Antivirus vulnerability on a Technocyte Coda.
- Using the matching Antivirus mod during later Mercy progression.
Effect and charges
A full ByteRyte has three charges. Its displayed rank counts charges already consumed, not Endo investment. Each successful Antivirus Mercy stage that sends the Coda to its final confrontation removes one charge from the effective Antivirus mod. At three charges used, ByteRyte becomes Depleted and can no longer be used for its Parazon purpose.
Use and slot constraints
The Coda is vulnerable to only one Antivirus mod, so ByteRyte is a candidate to test rather than a guaranteed match. Once you find the effective mod, the other two dedicated Antivirus slots can be used for Potency Mods. Antivirus mods have no polarity or capacity drain; up to three distinct ones may occupy the Parazon slots, with no duplicate copy of ByteRyte in those slots.
After depletion
A Depleted ByteRyte no longer works for its Parazon purpose. Recycling or supported transmutation are separate actions; do not mistake depletion for an ordinary upgrade state or a combat-stat change.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- ByteRyte provides up to three effective uses before depletion.
- Its value as a test candidate depends on whether it matches the Coda’s single Antivirus vulnerability.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating its rank as purchased or fusion progression instead of spent charges.
- Assuming ByteRyte is automatically the right Antivirus mod for a Coda.
- Trying to equip duplicate ByteRyte copies in the dedicated Parazon slots.
