Understand Drive-Duster
Useful when…
- Test Antivirus vulnerability on a Technocyte Coda.
- Track remaining uses before the mod becomes Depleted.
What it does and when charges are used
Antivirus mods help determine which single Antivirus vulnerability a Technocyte Coda has. The effective mod loses one charge after a successful Antivirus Mercy stage raises the Malware Disinfection meter to 100% and sends the Coda to its final confrontation. A fresh mod has three charges; its native rank counts charges already consumed, rather than an Endo upgrade or combat-stat increase.
Equipping and testing
It uses a dedicated Parazon Antivirus slot, with no polarity or capacity drain. Up to three distinct Antivirus mods can be equipped, but duplicate copies of the same mod cannot fill multiple slots. Codas are vulnerable to only one Antivirus mod, so after identifying the effective one, the other two slots can be changed to Potency mods.
Depletion and practical caution
After all three charges are consumed, Drive-Duster becomes Depleted and cannot be used for its Parazon purpose. Do not treat its rank as a conventional upgrade level or expect it to improve combat stats. Breaking it down, selling it, or supported transmutation are separate actions after depletion.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Each successful Antivirus Mercy stage that sends the Coda to its final confrontation consumes a charge from the effective mod.
- When the effective mod is established, retaining it in a slot may be unnecessary because the other Antivirus slots can be replaced with Potency mods.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not read native rank as an Endo-upgraded rank; it records charges already used.
- Do not equip duplicate copies of Drive-Duster in multiple Antivirus slots.
- Do not assume all three Antivirus mods are needed after discovering the effective one.
