Understand Rakta Ballistica
Useful when…
- Use the burst mode when you want to fire without waiting for a charge.
- Use the charged mode when you can afford its one-second charge and want to concentrate damage in a puncture-heavy shot.
How the two shots differ
Burst Shot is a projectile attack with 5% critical chance, a 1.5× critical multiplier, and 5% status chance. Its listed damage is split evenly between Impact, Slash, and Puncture (18.75 each). Charged Shot takes one second to charge and has 20% critical chance, the same 1.5× multiplier, and 10% status chance; its listed damage is 270 Puncture with 15 each Impact and Slash. These are distinct attack modes; the weapon-wide critical and status values do not replace their mode-specific values.
Handling and fitting
The weapon has a Charge trigger, a 20-round magazine, a two-second reload, and one listed multishot. Its listed fire rate is about 3.33, while the burst attack is listed at 6.67 and the charged attack at 3.33. It has Vazarin and Madurai polarities, which can help fit compatible mods in those slots.
Choosing the mode in practice
The charged shot puts most of its listed damage into Puncture and has stronger listed critical and status chances than the burst shot, but waiting a second between charged shots changes its pace. The burst mode divides its damage across three physical types and avoids a charge delay. Knell is a different kind of option: its description ties a temporary rapid-fire, no-ammo state to headshots. Sancti Castanas instead are thrown electrical traps detonated remotely. Those weapons suit different handling preferences; their descriptions alone do not establish that either is a direct upgrade.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The charged shot takes one second to charge; the quicker burst mode has lower listed critical and status chances.
- The weapon has only 5% listed weapon-wide critical chance; rely on the individual mode figures when comparing attack properties.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not read the charged-shot stats as the burst-shot stats: their listed damage and critical/status chances differ.
- Do not assume Red Veil tags establish current availability or an additional combat effect.
