Heavy Caliber

Rifle damage mod with accuracy penalty

Released Oct 9, 2013

Heavy Caliber adds rifle damage while reducing accuracy. At maximum rank it grants +165% Damage and -55% Accuracy. Consider it when that damage bonus is worth the accuracy loss for the rifle and the way you use it.

Heavy Caliber GUIDE

Understand Heavy Caliber

Useful when…

  • Rifle setups that can tolerate the accuracy penalty in exchange for the damage bonus.
  • Players evaluating a standard-slot damage mod with a substantial negative stat.

What are the effects?

Heavy Caliber is a standard rifle mod with Madurai polarity. At rank 0 it gives +15% Damage and -5% Accuracy; rank 5 gives +90% Damage and -30% Accuracy; rank 10 gives +165% Damage and -55% Accuracy. Both effects grow with rank, so ranking increases the damage bonus and the accuracy penalty together.

How should I approach ranking?

It reaches rank 10, and the listed costs rise sharply: ranks 0 to 1 cost 30 Endo and 1,449 credits, ranks 5 to 6 cost 960 Endo and 46,368 credits, and ranks 9 to 10 cost 15,360 Endo and 741,888 credits. The increasing investment also buys a larger accuracy penalty, so rank according to whether the paired effects suit the rifle you are using.

What are the listed alternatives?

Lucky Shot is a Conclave rifle mod that changes Projectile Speed and Accuracy. Twitch is a Conclave Exilus mod with temporary recoil and accuracy effects on equip. Aerial Ace is a standard Exilus mod that refreshes Double Jump on kills while airborne. These serve different purposes and do not provide Heavy Caliber's damage-and-accuracy tradeoff.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • The damage increase is paired with reduced accuracy at every listed rank.
  • Late rank fusion costs are high, and the accuracy penalty also grows with rank.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Focusing on the damage bonus while overlooking the corresponding accuracy reduction.
  • Investing heavily in ranks without accounting for the larger accuracy penalty at higher ranks.
