Understand Necramech Aviator
Useful when…
- Use it when you spend meaningful time airborne in a Necramech and want the listed damage reduction in that state.
- Compare it with shield-focused options if you need protection while grounded or want a different defensive mechanic.
When does its protection apply?
The damage reduction is conditional on being airborne. It starts at 10% at rank 0, rises to 30% at rank 2, and reaches 40% at rank 3. The effect does not state a damage reduction while grounded.
How does it fit a Necramech setup?
It is a standard Necramech mod with Vazarin polarity and base drain 4. Necramech Augur converts ability energy spent into shields; Necramech Continuity adds ability duration; Necramech Blitz increases slide-attack damage. Those mods have different purposes and do not reproduce Aviator's airborne damage reduction.
How much should you rank?
The mod has three ranks and costs increase through the supplied fusion examples: rank 2 to 3 costs 40 Endo and 1,932 Credits. Rank 2 already grants 30% reduction while airborne; rank 3 adds another 10 percentage points. Invest in the final rank when that additional conditional reduction is worthwhile for your airborne play.
What should you watch for?
The reduction applies while airborne, so do not count on it when grounded. It is not a substitute for a shield-capacity or shield-recharge effect: those affect shields, while Aviator's stated effect is damage reduction under an airborne condition.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Provides damage reduction only while airborne.
- The final rank adds 10 percentage points over rank 2 at the stated fusion cost.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming its damage reduction applies while grounded.
- Confusing conditional damage reduction with a shield capacity or recharge increase.
