Understand Seismic Bond
Useful when…
- Add area damage from Companion melee attacks during a channeled Ability.
- Build Ability Efficiency stacks through Companion damage while maintaining the mod's conditions.
Effects and conditions
This Rare Companion mod has Madurai polarity and base drain 4. While a channeled Ability is active, Companion melee attacks create a 4 m shockwave for a portion of their melee attack damage. At maximum rank, the shockwave is 30%. Companion damage also grants 3% Ability Efficiency for 12 seconds per stack, up to 10 stacks. At rank 0, the listed values are 5% shockwave damage and 0.5% Efficiency for 2 seconds per stack; rank 3 lists 20% and 2% for 8 seconds.
Rank investment
It reaches rank 5. Listed fusion costs are 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits from rank 0 to 1; 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits from rank 2 to 3; and 480 Endo and 23,184 Credits from rank 4 to 5. Higher ranks improve the shockwave contribution and the Efficiency bonus's size and duration. The effect depends on both an active channeled Ability for shockwaves and Companion damage for stacks, so investment is most relevant when those conditions occur in your play.
Alternative Companion bonds
Astral Bond is tied to Operator or Drifter damage and grants Companion attack bonuses, with Companion Void Damage returning Amp and Energy Efficiency benefits. Contagious Bond spreads part of a status effect after the Companion kills an afflicted enemy. Covert Bond grants Companion stealth after Finisher and Mercy kills. These alternatives have distinct triggers and do not replicate Seismic Bond's channeled-Ability condition or shockwaves.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Shockwaves require an active channeled Ability and Companion melee attacks.
- Efficiency stacks require Companion damage; the stated maximum is 10 stacks.
- Rank investment costs rise sharply at higher ranks.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting shockwaves while no channeled Ability is active.
- Expecting Efficiency stacks without Companion damage.
- Ignoring the 10-stack cap.
