Understand Soft Safe
Useful when…
- Testing Antivirus mods against a Technocyte Coda.
- Tracking the effective mod’s remaining uses during Coda progression.
What does it do?
Soft Safe belongs to the Antivirus system and has three charges when full. Its native rank tracks charges already consumed: remaining charges equal three minus that rank. This is charge progression, not an ordinary Endo upgrade or a combat-stat bonus.
When should I equip it?
Technocyte Codas have one effective Antivirus mod. The vulnerability is random, so players test and swap equipped Antivirus mods until a Mercy succeeds. After the successful Antivirus Mercy sends the Coda to its final confrontation, only the effective Antivirus mod loses one charge. Once identified, the other Antivirus slots can be changed for Potency Mods.
How do its slots and charges work?
Antivirus mods use dedicated Parazon slots, with up to three distinct mods equipped. A duplicate copy of the same mod cannot occupy another slot. These mods have no polarity or capacity drain, and do not use ordinary fusion ranks. A full mod has three charges; after all are used, Soft Safe becomes Depleted and cannot serve its Parazon purpose. Recycling or supported transmutation are separate actions.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its three charges are limited to its Parazon purpose; successful progression consumes a charge from the effective mod.
- Before the effective vulnerability is found, equipping it is part of testing rather than a guaranteed match.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating its native rank as an Endo-upgraded combat rank; it records charges consumed.
- Assuming every equipped Antivirus mod loses a charge after a successful stage; only the effective mod does.
- Equipping duplicate copies, which cannot occupy multiple Antivirus slots.
