Understand Weeping Wounds
Useful when…
- Use on compatible melee weapons in combo-focused builds.
- Consider when building around status effects and sustained melee attacks.
How the effect works
At maximum rank, Weeping Wounds grants +40% Status Chance per Combo Multiplier. The bonus is tied to the combo multiplier, so it is most relevant while that multiplier is built up. It increases status chance; it does not directly add damage.
Rank and fitting
This standard melee mod has Madurai polarity, a base drain of 4, and five ranks. It starts at +6.7% Status Chance per Combo Multiplier and reaches +40% at rank 5. Rank it when the larger combo-scaled bonus matters to your weapon; each additional rank uses Endo and Credits, with the final listed step from rank 4 to 5 costing 320 Endo and 15,456 Credits.
Related choices
Blood Rush also scales with combo, but adds Critical Chance rather than Status Chance. Drifting Contact offers flat Status Chance and +10 seconds of combo duration; Relentless Combination is described as a chance to increase the combo counter when Slash status deals damage. These serve distinct roles and are not automatic replacements for Weeping Wounds.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The status-chance gain depends on combo multiplier, so it is less compelling when combo is not maintained.
- Ranking the mod consumes Endo and Credits.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the listed bonus as a flat status-chance increase independent of combo.
- Confusing the bonus with direct damage or with Blood Rush’s Critical Chance effect.
