Understand Xata
Useful when…
- Equip it as one of up to three distinct Requiem mods while testing a nemesis passphrase.
- Track remaining charges after successful Requiem Mercies.
Effect and charge consumption
Xata participates in Requiem Mercy attempts against Kuva Liches and Sisters of Parvos. After a successful Mercy sends the nemesis to its final confrontation, every equipped Requiem mod loses one charge. Xata begins with three charges; its rank records how many have been consumed, not an Endo upgrade. At zero charges it becomes Defiled and can no longer serve its Parazon purpose.
Slots and passphrase testing
Requiem mods occupy dedicated Parazon slots, have no polarity or capacity drain, and allow up to three distinct mods equipped at once. Duplicate copies of Xata cannot fill multiple slots. The passphrase contains three different Requiems in an unknown order; murmurs reveal which Requiems are needed but not their order, so players test and swap the equipped mods until Mercies succeed.
After it becomes Defiled
A Defiled Xata cannot be used for Requiem purposes. It may be broken down, sold, or transmuted; the supplied rules state that four Requiem mods, including Defiled ones, can be transmuted into one random rank-zero Requiem mod. Treat that as a separate resource conversion, not a way to restore this copy’s charges.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Each successful Requiem Mercy consumes one charge from every equipped Requiem mod, whether or not each was the effective match.
- Once Defiled, the mod no longer works for its Parazon purpose.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming murmurs reveal the order as well as the required Requiems.
- Equipping duplicate copies of Xata.
- Expecting a successful Mercy to consume only the effective Requiem; all equipped Requiem mods lose a charge.
- Treating Defiled as a usable charge state or as an ordinary upgrade rank.
