Understand Albedo
Useful when…
- Add DEF-scaling AoE Geo follow-up damage through Solar Isotoma.
- Use the burst for AoE Geo damage and its nearby-party Elemental Mastery increase.
- Create a crystallized platform by placing a character at the skill's locus.
- Gain a chance at double Weapon Ascension Materials when crafting them.
What does Solar Isotoma do?
Albedo's Elemental Skill deals AoE Geo damage when placed, then creates the Solar Isotoma field for 30 seconds. Whenever an opponent within the field takes damage, it can generate a Transient Blossom that deals AoE Geo damage scaling from Albedo's DEF. This can happen only once every two seconds. The skill has a listed four-second cooldown, so it can be repositioned while its field duration is longer than that cooldown. Holding the skill lets you designate its location. A character standing at its locus causes a crystallized platform to lift them; only one such platform can exist at a time. Solar Isotoma is a Geo construct, and Albedo can have only one of his own on the field.
When is his burst useful?
Rite of Progeniture deals AoE Geo damage in front of Albedo. If his own Solar Isotoma is present, it also generates seven Fatal Blossoms in that field, each dealing AoE Geo damage. Neither the burst hit nor the Fatal Blossoms generate Transient Blossoms, so they do not trigger extra skill follow-ups. The burst costs 40 Energy and has a 12-second cooldown. After using it, Albedo's passive increases nearby party members' Elemental Mastery by 125 for 10 seconds. This makes the burst relevant for its own damage and its stated party benefit, while the skill remains the source of recurring Transient Blossoms.
What should you level?
The Elemental Skill is the natural first investment when you use Albedo primarily for Transient Blossoms, since their damage scales from DEF and the skill is the source of the field. Raise the burst when its direct damage and seven blossoms are important to your use. Normal attacks are a lower priority if he rarely stays on field; the supplied normal sequence is a five-hit sword combo, with a two-hit charged attack costing 20 Stamina. Ascension and talents have distinct resource costs, so spending for all tracks is a separate decision from choosing which of his effects matter most to your party.
What can interrupt the plan?
Transient Blossoms require opponents to take damage while inside the Solar Isotoma field, and their two-second trigger limit caps how often the effect occurs. The field is a Geo construct, so placement and whether it remains available matter. The burst's extra blossoms require Albedo's own Solar Isotoma to be on the field; they do not appear unconditionally. Also, burst hits do not create Transient Blossoms, so do not count those effects as extra skill procs. His crafting passive is a separate utility: it gives a 10% chance to receive double Weapon Ascension Materials when he crafts them.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Transient Blossom damage scales from DEF, while his burst is a separate damage source.
- The burst's seven Fatal Blossoms require Solar Isotoma to be present and do not trigger Transient Blossoms.
- Skill follow-ups depend on enemies taking damage within the field and are limited to once every two seconds.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting Transient Blossoms more often than once every two seconds.
- Using the burst without Albedo's Solar Isotoma and expecting Fatal Blossoms.
- Counting the burst's hits as triggers for additional Transient Blossoms.
