Understand Barbara
Useful when…
- Use Let the Show Begin♪ for periodic healing to the active character and hit-triggered healing for party members and nearby teammates.
- Use Shining Miracle♪ for a large heal to party members and nearby teammates; it costs 80 Energy.
- Use Normal and Charged Attacks to deal Hydro damage; during the Melody Loop, hits also trigger healing.
How do the Melody Loop and Burst heal?
Let the Show Begin♪ summons droplets that deal Hydro damage to nearby opponents and apply Wet. Its Melody Loop lasts 15 seconds and has a 32-second cooldown at talent level one. The Loop periodically heals the active character for 4% of Barbara’s Max HP plus 385.19 HP; the effect description does not specify the interval. Barbara’s Normal Attack hits heal party members and nearby teammates for 0.75% of Max HP plus 72.22 HP per hit. A Charged Attack hit heals for four times that amount. Shining Miracle♪ heals party members and nearby teammates for 17.6% of Max HP plus 1,694.28 HP at talent level one. It has a 20-second cooldown and costs 80 Energy.
What does Barbara do while the Loop is active?
Her Normal Attack performs up to four Hydro damage hits. Her Charged Attack consumes stamina and deals AoE Hydro damage after a short casting time. During the Melody Loop, hit-triggered healing is part of the Skill effect. The Loop also reduces stamina consumption by 12% for characters within it. It applies Wet to Barbara and to opponents who come into contact with her.
Which talents should you improve?
The Elemental Skill talent governs the Melody Loop’s periodic and hit-triggered healing. The Elemental Burst talent governs Shining Miracle♪’s heal. Normal Attack talent levels improve the listed attack damage; the Loop’s hit-triggered healing is described as a Skill effect. Choose Skill or Burst investment according to which healing effect matters to your use of Barbara, and prioritize Normal Attacks when you also want to improve her attack damage. Ascension is a separate progression track. The listed upgrade costs are examples for selected steps, not a complete cost schedule.
What limits her healing and what do similar characters establish?
At talent level one, the Melody Loop’s 15-second duration is shorter than its 32-second cooldown. Shining Miracle♪ is a separate heal with an 80 Energy cost. Charged Attacks provide four times the Normal Attack hit healing but consume stamina and have a short casting time. The Loop applies Wet to Barbara and to opponents who come into contact with her. Sangonomiya Kokomi and Mona share Barbara’s Hydro Catalyst traits, while Nilou shares Hydro and uses a Sword; those shared traits alone do not establish equivalent healing or role coverage.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The Melody Loop combines periodic healing with hit-triggered party healing, but at talent level one it lasts 15 seconds and has a 32-second cooldown.
- Shining Miracle♪ supplies a large heal but costs 80 Energy.
- Charged Attack hits heal four times as much as Normal Attack hits, at the cost of stamina and a short casting time.
- The Loop applies Wet to Barbara and to opponents who come into contact with her.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming Normal Attack talent levels increase the Melody Loop’s hit-triggered healing, which is described as a Skill effect.
- Confusing the Loop’s periodic heal to the active character with its hit-triggered healing for party members and nearby teammates.
- Treating the level-one duration and cooldown as values that apply at every talent level.
- Assuming the Loop’s periodic healing has a specified interval.
- Assuming the Loop applies Wet to characters other than Barbara; the effect names Barbara and opponents who come into contact with her.
