Understand Astral Vulture's Crimson Plumage
Useful when…
- Bow users whose damage includes Charged Attacks or Elemental Bursts.
- Parties where one or more allies have a different Elemental Type from the wielder and the wielder can trigger Swirl or Stellar Swirl.
How do the conditions work?
At refinement 1, triggering Swirl or Stellar Swirl increases ATK by 24% for 12 seconds. Separately, if one party member has a different Elemental Type from the wielder, Charged Attack DMG rises by 20% and Burst DMG by 10%. If two or more party members have a different type, those bonuses become 48% and 24%. The conditions concern Elemental Type; do not count the wielder as a different-type party member.
Who can make use of it?
The weapon’s CRIT DMG secondary stat and ATK effect support damage dealing, while its conditional attack bonuses specifically reward Charged Attacks and Elemental Bursts. Check the party’s Elemental Types and whether the wielder can trigger Swirl or Stellar Swirl to activate the 12-second ATK effect. The effect descriptions do not grant the same bonus to Normal Attacks, so a Normal Attack-focused pattern does not make full use of the listed attack bonuses.
What improves with refinement?
Refinement 5 raises the Swirl-triggered ATK increase to 48%. The Charged Attack bonus becomes 40% with one different-type party member, or 96% with two or more; Burst DMG becomes 20% or 48%, respectively. These are conditional values, not an unconditional increase. Refinement examples require sacrificing another copy and Mora. Ascension is a separate track, progressing through stages 0–6; supplied cost examples cover selected steps.
How does it differ from other bows?
Alley Hunter gains damage while its wielder is off-field, building over time and declining after the wielder spends more than four seconds on-field. Amos’ Bow instead boosts Normal and Charged Attack damage, with additional damage based on arrow flight time. Aqua Simulacra grants HP and damage while opponents are nearby, whether the wielder is on- or off-field. These alternatives have distinct conditions and do not replicate this weapon’s Swirl trigger or party-type thresholds.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- ATK depends on triggering Swirl or Stellar Swirl and lasts 12 seconds.
- Charged Attack and Burst bonuses depend on party Elemental Types; they do not boost every attack mode.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the larger Charged Attack and Burst bonuses as unconditional; they require at least two party members of a different Elemental Type.
- Assuming the Swirl-triggered ATK effect automatically activates without triggering Swirl or Stellar Swirl.
