Understand Black Tassel
Useful when…
- A polearm wielder who benefits from the weapon's HP secondary stat.
- A situation where the wielder is dealing damage to slimes and can use the passive.
What does it do?
Black Tassel has 37.6 base ATK and an HP secondary stat. At R1, its passive increases DMG against slimes by 40%, reaching 80% at R5. The stated passive is limited to that enemy type; it does not describe a damage increase against other opponents.
When is it useful?
Consider it when the wielder values HP from a weapon or when fighting slimes makes its passive relevant. Outside those cases, evaluate it for its listed HP stat and base ATK rather than assuming the slime bonus will apply broadly.
How should you invest?
Ascension advances the weapon through six stages. Refinement consumes another Black Tassel and Mora, increasing the slime damage bonus from 40% to 80% across R1 to R5. Since refinement only raises this narrow enemy-specific effect, it is a limited priority unless slime damage is a meaningful use for the weapon. Ascension is separate weapon-level progression.
How does it compare with other polearms?
The Catch has Energy Recharge and improves Elemental Burst DMG and Burst CRIT Rate. Ballad of the Fjords has CRIT Rate and provides Elemental Mastery only when the party has at least three different Elemental Types. Beginner's Protector is a 1-star polearm with lower base ATK and no secondary stat. These options serve different stat or condition needs; their listed effects do not reproduce Black Tassel's HP secondary stat and slime bonus.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The damage passive only applies against slimes.
- Its HP secondary stat and low rarity do not imply that it suits every polearm damage build.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying the slime damage bonus to other enemy types.
- Refining for the passive without considering how often the weapon will be used against slimes.
