Understand Blackcliff Warbow
Useful when…
- A bow damage build that can make use of CRIT DMG and gains value from defeating enemies during combat.
- Encounters with successive opponents, where defeats can build the passive's ATK stacks.
What does it do?
The weapon has 43.7 base ATK and a CRIT DMG secondary stat. At Refinement 1, defeating an enemy grants 12% ATK for 30 seconds, up to three stacks. Each stack has its own duration. The passive depends on defeating opponents: it does not provide those stacks simply for hitting or damaging them.
When is it useful?
It is most relevant in fights where enemies are defeated in sequence, allowing additional stacks while earlier ones remain active. Against a single durable opponent, or whenever you cannot secure defeats, the passive may contribute little or nothing; judge the bow by its CRIT DMG stat in those situations.
What are the investment tradeoffs?
Weapon ascension raises the weapon's level through six stages. Refinement consumes another Blackcliff Warbow copy and Mora; it raises the defeat-triggered ATK bonus from 12% at R1 to 24% at R5. Refinement improves the same conditional effect rather than removing its requirement, so consider whether that situation occurs often before spending extra copies.
How does it compare with other bows?
Alley Hunter has an ATK secondary stat and gains DMG while its wielder is off-field, with that buff declining after the character spends more than four seconds on-field. Amos' Bow favors Normal and Charged Attack DMG and gains more DMG as an arrow remains in flight. Aqua Simulacra supplies CRIT DMG and increases the wielder's DMG while opponents are nearby, including off-field. These effects favor different attack patterns and conditions; none duplicates Blackcliff's defeat-triggered ATK stacks.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The passive requires defeating an enemy, so its value varies with encounter structure.
- Stack durations are independent, requiring separate tracking if multiple defeats occur.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the passive activates on a hit; it activates after defeating an enemy.
- Treating the effect as one shared timer; each stack has an independent 30-second duration.
