Breezeborne Refrain GUIDE
Understand Breezeborne Refrain
Useful when…
- A bow wielder who values Energy Recharge and can contribute a Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG bonus.
- A setup where the wielder can hit opponents with Skills or Bursts and nearby party members can benefit from the timed reaction bonus.
How does the passive activate?
At R1, the passive increases Energy Recharge by 20%. When the wielder hits an opponent with an Elemental Skill or Burst, they gain a Hymn of the Pure stack. At three stacks, those stacks are cleared and become Thus Lied the Viper, granting nearby party members a 24% Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG boost for 12 seconds. During those 12 seconds, Hymn stacks cannot be gained. These effects can trigger while the wielder is off-field.
Who benefits from it?
The passive rewards Skill or Burst hits and supplies a reaction-specific bonus to nearby party members. It is most relevant when the wielder can land those hits and the party can use the Stellar Glimmer bonus. Off-field activation lets the wielder contribute without staying active, but still requires Skill or Burst hits on an opponent.
What changes with refinement?
Ascension advances the weapon through six stages. Refinement consumes another Breezeborne Refrain copy and Mora. Across R1 to R5, Energy Recharge rises from 20% to 40%, and the 12-second Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG bonus rises from 24% to 48%. The three-hit stack conversion and 12-second no-stack interval remain part of the listed mechanic.
How does it differ from other bows?
Alley Hunter rewards time off-field with a wielder DMG bonus that declines after more than four seconds on-field. Amos' Bow boosts Normal and Charged Attack DMG, with further gains based on arrow flight time. Aqua Simulacra grants HP and increases the wielder's DMG when opponents are nearby, whether on- or off-field. These weapons support different damage patterns; their listed effects do not provide Breezeborne Refrain's party Stellar Glimmer bonus.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The party bonus requires three Skill or Burst hit stacks before activation.
- No new stacks can be gained during the 12-second bonus window.
- The party damage bonus is specific to Stellar Glimmer reactions.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting Skill or Burst use alone as a stack; the wielder must hit an opponent.
- Expecting stacks to build during the 12-second party bonus window.
- Treating the party bonus as a general DMG increase rather than a Stellar Glimmer reaction bonus.
Effects and reference details
Refinement effects
R1 Increases Energy Recharge by 20%. When the equipping character hits the opponent with their Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst, they gain a stack of "Hymn of the Pure." This effect can trigger once every 0.03s, max 3 stacks, and at 3 stacks, all instances of "Hymn of the Pure" are cleared to give the equipping character "Thus Lied the Viper" instead. This grants nearby party members a 24% Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG boost for 12s, during which no stacks of "Hymn of the Pure" can be obtained. The aforementioned effects can still trigger even when the equipping character is not on the field.
R2 Increases Energy Recharge by 25%. When the equipping character hits the opponent with their Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst, they gain a stack of "Hymn of the Pure."
