Understand Chain Breaker
Useful when…
- ATK-scaling bow users in parties with several Natlan members or characters of different Elemental Types.
- Elemental reaction damage when the same qualifying party composition reaches the three-character Mastery threshold.
What party condition does it count?
At refinement 1, every party member who is from Natlan or has a different Elemental Type from the wielder contributes 4.8% ATK to the wielder. When at least three characters meet either criterion, the wielder also gains 24 Elemental Mastery. A character need only meet one of the two criteria to count; the condition is based on party membership and the wielder's Elemental Type. The bow itself has an ATK secondary stat.
When should you consider it?
It can suit an ATK-scaling bow wielder when the chosen party already includes enough qualifying members. The ATK component accumulates per qualifying party member, while Elemental Mastery has a separate threshold of at least three. That extra Mastery is most relevant when the character's damage benefits from it; it is not an unconditional party-wide bonus.
How does it differ from other bows?
Alley Hunter rewards time off-field: its damage bonus builds while the wielder is off-field and falls after they spend more than four seconds on-field. Amos' Bow improves Normal and Charged Attack damage, with an additional increase based on arrow flight time. Aqua Simulacra increases damage when opponents are nearby, whether the wielder is on- or off-field, and also increases HP. These effects have different conditions and do not depend on Chain Breaker's Natlan or Elemental Type count.
How much should you invest?
Ascension advances the weapon through stages 0–6. Refinement increases the ATK gained from each qualifying character from 4.8% at refinement 1 to 9.6% at refinement 5, and raises the three-character Mastery bonus from 24 to 48. Since refinement consumes another copy, first consider whether the wielder's regular party can maintain the qualifying count and use both stats.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The passive depends on the party's Natlan membership and Elemental Types relative to the wielder.
- Elemental Mastery is granted only at three or more qualifying characters.
- Refinement consumes another copy.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting a party member twice because they are both from Natlan and a different Elemental Type; the effect says per party member.
- Assuming three qualifying members are needed for the ATK bonus; only the Elemental Mastery clause has that threshold.
- Assuming the weapon grants Elemental Mastery to the party; the listed bonus applies to its wielder.
