Understand Crescent Pike
Useful when…
- A polearm wielder whose combat damage includes repeated Normal or Charged Attacks after collecting Elemental Orbs or Particles.
- A Physical-damage-oriented attack pattern that can make use of the weapon's Physical DMG Bonus secondary stat.
Trigger, duration, and affected attacks
After the wielder picks up an Elemental Orb or Particle, their Normal and Charged Attacks deal additional damage equal to 20% of ATK for five seconds at R1. The stated percentage increases to 40% at R5. This is extra damage attached to the specified attack modes during the window; the effect description does not extend it to Elemental Skills or Bursts. The weapon also has Physical DMG Bonus as its secondary stat.
Practical fit and alternatives
Consider Crescent Pike when a polearm wielder spends meaningful combat time on Normal or Charged Attacks and can pick up Orbs or Particles near those attacks. The Physical DMG Bonus secondary stat reinforces a physical attack focus. For a Burst-focused role, The Catch instead provides Energy Recharge and increases Elemental Burst DMG and Burst CRIT Rate. Ballad of the Fjords has a CRIT Rate secondary stat and grants Elemental Mastery only when the party has at least three different Elemental Types. Neither comparison has Crescent Pike's Orb or Particle-triggered extra Normal and Charged Attack damage.
Ascension and refinement investment
Ascension progresses through six stages; listed examples include 5,000 Mora for stage 0 to 1 and 45,000 Mora for stage 5 to 6, alongside weapon materials. Refinement requires a duplicate copy and Mora. The listed Mora costs are 1,000 for R1 to R2 and 8,000 for R4 to R5. Each refinement raises the extra damage by five percentage points of ATK, reaching 40% at R5. Refine when this attack window is central to the wielder's use and spare copies are available; otherwise ascension provides the weapon's ordinary stat progression without spending copies.
Limits and common mistakes
The effect begins when the wielder picks up an Elemental Orb or Particle and lasts five seconds, so attacking outside that timing window receives no stated extra damage. The bonus applies to Normal and Charged Attacks only; do not count it toward Skill or Burst damage. Beginner's Protector is a basic 1-star polearm with no listed secondary stat or refinement effect, so it does not reproduce Crescent Pike's conditional attack bonus.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The extra damage window lasts only five seconds after picking up an Orb or Particle.
- Only Normal and Charged Attacks receive the listed extra damage.
- Refinement consumes duplicate copies for a larger bonus.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the passive activates just by creating an Orb or Particle; the wielder must pick one up.
- Using the five-second bonus as if it improved Elemental Skill or Burst attacks.
- Ignoring the short trigger window when choosing when to perform Normal or Charged Attacks.
