Understand Dialogues of the Desert Sages
Useful when…
- Equip it on a polearm character whose healing can activate its Energy effect.
- Use it when an off-field healing event can contribute Energy to the wielder.
How its healing effect works
When the wielder performs healing, the weapon restores 8 Energy at Refinement 1, rising to 16 at Refinement 5. It can trigger once every 10 seconds and still works while the wielder is off field. The healing condition matters: having a healing character in the party is not itself enough; the wielder must perform the healing.
When to consider it
The HP secondary stat and healing-triggered Energy point toward a support role for a polearm user whose kit includes healing. The off-field clause is useful when that healing occurs after switching away, though the effect remains limited by its 10-second trigger interval. The Catch is a different option when the goal is the wielder's Burst damage and CRIT Rate: it provides Energy Recharge and increases those Burst stats, but does not share this healing-triggered Energy effect.
Investment priorities
Weapon ascension raises the weapon through six stages; the listed examples show Mora and material costs at early, middle, and final stages. Refinement increases the Energy restored per trigger from 8 to 16, using a copy of the weapon for each listed refinement step. Consider refinement when the extra Energy is useful to the wielder's needs; it does not shorten the 10-second trigger interval.
Limitations and comparison
This is not a general Energy Recharge polearm: its Energy return depends on the wielder performing healing. Ballad of the Fjords instead grants Elemental Mastery when the party has at least three different Elemental Types, so its condition and purpose differ. Beginner's Protector has only a low base ATK and no secondary stat or listed passive, making it a basic polearm rather than a like-for-like support choice.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Energy restoration requires the wielder to heal; a party member's healing alone is not stated to activate it.
- The effect can trigger only once every 10 seconds.
- Refining improves Energy per trigger but does not change the trigger interval.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming another party member's healing activates the weapon for its wielder.
- Expecting the Energy return more than once every 10 seconds.
- Treating it as a direct damage or Energy Recharge stat weapon.
