Understand Favonius Lance
Useful when…
- A polearm wielder with Energy needs who can land CRIT hits.
- A build that values periodic particle generation in addition to Energy Recharge.
Trigger, Energy, and cooldown
At Refinement 1, a CRIT hit has a 60% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which regenerate 6 Energy for the character. It can trigger once every 12 seconds. Refinement 5 raises the chance to 100% and shortens the interval to 6 seconds; the listed restoration remains 6 Energy. Energy Recharge is the weapon’s secondary stat, separate from the particle effect. Since a CRIT hit is required, neither the secondary stat nor equipping the lance alone guarantees a trigger.
Who benefits and how it differs
Consider the lance when a polearm wielder needs Energy and can activate the passive with CRIT hits. The Catch is another Energy Recharge polearm, but its listed passive increases Elemental Burst damage and Burst CRIT Rate rather than generating particles. Ballad of the Fjords has CRIT Rate and grants Elemental Mastery only when the party includes at least three different Elemental Types. These are different benefits with their own conditions, so choose based on whether particle generation, Burst damage, or the specified party composition serves the build.
Investment priorities
Refinement makes the passive more reliable and available more often: its chance rises from 60% to 100% and its interval falls from 12 to 6 seconds between Refinement 1 and 5. It does not change the listed 6 Energy restored per trigger. The supplied refinement steps require another Favonius Lance and Mora. Ascension advances the weapon separately through six stages and consumes its listed materials and Mora. If particle generation is the reason to invest, refinement directly improves the trigger chance and interval, but duplicates spent refining cannot also be retained as copies.
Common trigger errors
The passive is not a general hit effect: it requires a CRIT hit, has a chance to activate, and cannot occur more often than its listed interval. Refinement 5 removes the chance failure but does not remove the cooldown. The Catch may look similar because it shares the Energy Recharge stat, but its listed effect is a direct Burst damage and Burst CRIT Rate increase, not the Lance’s particle effect.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The passive requires a CRIT hit and is chance-based below Refinement 5.
- A cooldown limits how often particles can be generated.
- Refining consumes another copy but does not increase the listed 6 Energy restoration.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming every hit can generate particles or that Refinement 5 removes the cooldown.
- Confusing the weapon’s Energy Recharge stat with the passive’s 6 Energy restoration.
- Treating The Catch as a particle-generation substitute because it shares the Energy Recharge secondary stat.
