Understand Halberd
Useful when…
- Using a low-rarity polearm for Normal Attack focused combat.
- Taking advantage of its periodic extra hit while progressing with available weapons.
What does the effect do?
Normal Attacks deal an additional 160% ATK as damage at refinement 1, rising to 320% at refinement 5. The effect can occur only once every 10 seconds, so repeated Normal Attacks do not each receive the extra hit. The weapon has ATK as its secondary stat.
When is it useful?
It offers a straightforward benefit when the wielder uses Normal Attacks and the extra hit is available. The 10-second trigger limit makes it a periodic addition rather than a continuous boost to an attack string.
Refinement and alternatives
Refinement increases the extra hit by 40 percentage points of ATK per rank, from 160% to 320%, and uses a duplicate Halberd plus Mora. The Catch instead has Energy Recharge and improves Burst damage and Burst CRIT Rate; Ballad of the Fjords has CRIT Rate and grants Elemental Mastery only with at least three different party elements. Neither duplicates Halberd’s periodic Normal Attack effect.
Investment limits
Ascension raises the weapon through six stages. Refining is a direct increase to the extra Normal Attack hit, but that hit remains limited to once every 10 seconds.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The extra damage is tied to Normal Attacks and can trigger only once every 10 seconds.
- Refinement improves the extra hit but does not remove its trigger interval.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting every Normal Attack in a sequence to receive the additional damage.
- Treating the 160%–320% ATK effect as a permanent Normal Attack DMG bonus.
