Understand Kitain Cross Spear
Useful when…
- A polearm user whose damage benefits from Elemental Mastery
- A character with a damaging Skill that can hit opponents
- A build that can use delayed Energy restoration
What does the passive do?
At Refinement 1, Elemental Skill DMG increases by 6%. After the Skill hits an opponent, the wielder loses 3 Energy and regenerates 3 Energy every 2 seconds for the next 6 seconds. This can occur once every 10 seconds and can trigger while the character is off-field. At Refinement 5, the Skill damage bonus is 12% and each restoration tick is 5 Energy; the initial 3-Energy loss and trigger interval remain.
Which builds use its stats?
The EM secondary stat can suit a character whose damage benefits from EM, while the passive’s Skill bonus is relevant to Skill damage specifically. The Catch has Energy Recharge and increases Burst damage and Burst CRIT Rate, which better matches a Burst-focused need. Ballad of the Fjords has CRIT Rate and grants EM only when the party has at least three different Elemental Types. These options depend on different damage sources or party conditions.
What investment makes sense?
Ascension improves the weapon’s base stats. Refinement increases Skill damage and the periodic restoration but requires another copy. Since the passive still removes 3 Energy at every refinement, judge the improvement by how useful the higher restoration is after that cost. The supplied ascension examples list materials and Mora at stages 0–1, 3–4, and 5–6; refinement examples consume a Kitain Cross Spear copy.
What are the trigger limits?
A Skill hit is required; simply casting a Skill does not satisfy the stated trigger if it misses. Energy returns in intervals after the initial loss rather than all at once, and the effect can occur only once every 10 seconds. The passive can trigger off-field, but its Skill DMG increase belongs to the weapon’s wielder, not to another active character.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The passive spends 3 Energy before restoring it over time.
- A Skill must hit an opponent to trigger the effect.
- Refinement requires another copy.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the Energy effect as immediate or ignoring its initial 3-Energy cost.
- Expecting a missed Skill to trigger restoration.
- Applying the Skill damage increase to Burst damage.
