Understand Missive Windspear
Useful when…
- Consider it when the character benefits from ATK and Elemental Mastery after a reaction is triggered.
- Use it for a damage pattern that can make use of the ten-second buff window.
Effects and timing
Within ten seconds after an Elemental Reaction is triggered, the weapon increases ATK and Elemental Mastery. At R1, these are 12% ATK and 48 Elemental Mastery; at R5, they are 24% ATK and 96 Elemental Mastery. The effect names no specific reaction and does not add an attribution condition.
How other polearms differ
The Catch has Energy Recharge and increases Elemental Burst DMG and Burst CRIT Rate, suiting a Burst-focused need. Ballad of the Fjords grants Elemental Mastery when the party has at least three different Elemental Types, a party-composition condition. Beginner's Protector has no secondary stat or passive listed. Their listed effects differ from Missive Windspear's temporary ATK and Elemental Mastery bonus after a reaction is triggered.
Ascension and refinement
Ascension has six stages; listed examples provide material and Mora costs for selected transitions. Refinement uses Plume of the Changing Winds and Mora, raising both the ATK and Elemental Mastery amounts. The ten-second timing remains the same.
Timing and trigger details
The bonus follows an Elemental Reaction trigger and lasts within a ten-second window. The supplied effect wording does not specify that the wielder must cause the reaction, so do not infer that additional condition.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The temporary buff depends on an Elemental Reaction being triggered.
- Its secondary stat is ATK rather than Energy Recharge.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the passive stays active beyond its ten-second timing.
- Adding a requirement that the wielder personally cause the reaction.
