Understand Moonpiercer
Useful when…
- Reaction-focused polearm users who can trigger the listed reactions.
- A character who can collect the generated Leaf to gain its temporary ATK bonus.
Reaction trigger and Leaf condition
After triggering Burning, Quicken, Aggravate, Spread, Bloom, Lunar-Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon, a Leaf of Revival appears around the character and can remain for up to 10 seconds. Picking it up grants ATK for 12 seconds: 16% at R1, rising to 32% at R5. Only one Leaf can be generated this way every 20 seconds. The effect can trigger while the wielder is off-field, but the listed ATK buff still requires the Leaf to be picked up.
Who can use its stats and passive
Elemental Mastery is part of the weapon’s base profile, while the ATK bonus is conditional on a listed reaction and Leaf pickup. This makes the weapon relevant when both stats can contribute to the wielder’s role. If the character rarely triggers the named reactions or the Leaf is left uncollected, the passive’s ATK increase will not be realized.
Progression and refinement cost
Ascension advances through stage 6. Refinement consumes another Moonpiercer copy and raises the pickup buff in four-point percentage increments, from 16% at R1 to 32% at R5. Ascension develops the weapon directly; refinement trades duplicate copies for a larger conditional buff, so it is most relevant when the trigger and pickup can be used reliably.
Alternatives have different requirements
The Catch boosts Burst DMG and Burst CRIT Rate, while Ballad of the Fjords grants Elemental Mastery only when the party has at least three different Elemental Types. Beginner’s Protector has no secondary stat or listed passive. These options emphasize different effects; Moonpiercer’s distinct condition is a named reaction followed by collecting its Leaf.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The generated Leaf lasts at most 10 seconds and must be picked up to grant ATK.
- Leaf generation is limited to once every 20 seconds.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming off-field triggering also removes the need to pick up the Leaf.
- Expecting a new Leaf more than once within the 20-second trigger interval.
