Understand Range Gauge
Useful when…
- A bow wielder who is healed or heals others and deals elemental damage.
- An off-field character that can gain symbols before using a Skill or Burst to activate the buff.
Symbols and Struggle
Healing the wielder or having the wielder heal others grants a Unity’s Symbol lasting 30 seconds, up to 3 symbols. On using an Elemental Skill or Burst, all symbols are consumed and Struggle grants ATK and All Elemental DMG Bonus for 10 seconds. At R1, each consumed symbol grants 3% ATK and 7% All Elemental DMG Bonus; with 3 symbols, that is 9% ATK and 21% All Elemental DMG Bonus. At R5, each symbol grants 7% ATK and 13% All Elemental DMG Bonus, or 21% ATK and 39% All Elemental DMG Bonus for 3 symbols. Struggle can trigger once every 15 seconds. Symbols can be gained while the wielder is off field.
Using the condition in combat
The sequence supported by the effect is to gain symbols through healing, then use a Skill or Burst to consume them and activate the 10-second buff. Healing is the setup condition; the Skill or Burst is the spending trigger. Because symbols last 30 seconds and may be gained off field, the wielder does not need to remain active for every symbol gain. The weapon has ATK as its secondary stat, while its triggered bonus includes All Elemental DMG Bonus.
Investment and comparisons
Ascension advances the weapon through stages 0–6. Refinement increases both per-symbol bonuses; it requires another Range Gauge copy and Mora. Refining is most relevant if the wielder can repeatedly reach multiple symbols and use the resulting buff. Alley Hunter instead rewards time off field with a general DMG increase that decays after extended on-field time. Amos' Bow focuses on Normal and Charged Attack damage and arrow flight time. Aqua Simulacra grants DMG when opponents are nearby, whether the wielder is on or off field. Each comparison has a different trigger and damage profile.
Common timing mistake
Using a Skill or Burst consumes all stored symbols. If the wielder has only one symbol at that moment, the effect is calculated from one consumed symbol; it does not preserve unused symbols for a later activation. Symbols also expire after 30 seconds.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The passive requires healing setup and a Skill or Burst to convert symbols into a buff.
- The Struggle effect has a 15-second trigger interval even though the buff lasts 10 seconds.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using Skill or Burst before collecting useful symbols, since activation consumes all of them.
- Assuming symbols cannot be gained while the wielder is off field.
