Understand Snare Hook
Useful when…
- Adding Elemental Mastery after the wielder causes a reaction, including off-field.
- Using the additional Elemental Mastery when Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam applies.
What triggers its Elemental Mastery?
Causing an Elemental Reaction grants 60 Elemental Mastery for 12 seconds at R1. Under Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam, the Elemental Mastery from this effect is increased by a further 60. At R5, these values are 120 and a further 120. The effect can trigger even while the wielder is off-field. The description does not state a cooldown, so none should be inferred from the listed values.
Which builds can use it?
The weapon's Energy Recharge supports Burst access, while the passive benefits a wielder that causes reactions and uses Elemental Mastery. Since the reaction can be caused off-field, the wielder need not be active when triggering it. Alley Hunter provides an off-field damage bonus that decays during extended field time, rather than Elemental Mastery. Amos' Bow is directed at Normal and Charged Attack damage and arrow flight time; Aqua Simulacra increases damage when opponents are nearby, even off-field. These are different stat and effect conditions.
How should it be improved?
Ascension moves the bow through six stages. Refinement consumes a duplicate and increases both the base Elemental Mastery grant and the additional Moonsign amount. The 12-second duration and off-field trigger remain unchanged in the listed refinements. Consider ascension for level progression, and refine when the larger mastery bonuses justify spending another copy.
What condition should not be missed?
The listed effect requires the wielder to cause an Elemental Reaction. Merely being in a party where another character reacts is not the stated trigger. The extra amount is specifically conditional on Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam; do not count it as always active.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its Elemental Mastery depends on the wielder causing a reaction.
- The additional mastery requires Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming another party member's reaction necessarily triggers the wielder's effect.
- Counting the additional Moonsign mastery outside Ascendant Gleam.
