Understand Staff of Homa
Useful when…
- Equip on a polearm damage dealer who benefits from CRIT DMG and ATK.
- Consider it when the wielder’s kit or build also makes the HP increase useful.
What it does
At R1, Staff of Homa increases HP by 20% and grants ATK equal to 0.8% of the wielder’s Max HP. Below 50% HP, its ATK bonus gains another 1% of Max HP. The added portion below the threshold is conditional; the base HP-derived ATK applies regardless. Higher refinements raise the HP increase and both conversion rates.
When it fits
Its CRIT DMG secondary stat and HP-to-ATK effect make it a damage-oriented polearm. The below-half-HP clause rewards a wielder who can safely remain under that threshold, but the weapon still provides its base conversion when they cannot. The Catch instead supplies Energy Recharge and boosts Burst damage and Burst CRIT Rate; that is a different fit for a Burst-focused build needing those stats.
Investment and tradeoffs
Ascension raises the weapon’s level and uses weapon materials and Mora. Refinement consumes another Staff of Homa copy and Mora, increasing the HP and ATK conversion values; weigh that copy cost against keeping a second five-star polearm available. Do not treat the low-rank Beginner’s Protector as a comparable effect: it has no secondary stat or listed refinement effect.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The larger ATK conversion requires the wielder to be below 50% HP.
- Its HP and CRIT DMG benefits do not provide Energy Recharge or a party buff.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the extra low-HP conversion while the wielder is at or above half HP.
- Refining with a duplicate before considering whether to keep another copy.
