Understand The First Great Magic
Useful when…
- A bow user whose damage relies on Charged Attacks and can make use of CRIT DMG.
- A wielder whose party composition supplies useful Gimmick ATK thresholds or Theatrics Movement SPD thresholds.
What do the party stacks count?
For each party member with the same Elemental Type as the wielder, including the wielder, the weapon counts one Gimmick stack. Each member with a different Elemental Type counts one Theatrics stack. At R1, having one, two, or at least three Gimmick stacks grants 16%, 32%, or 48% ATK. The corresponding Theatrics thresholds grant 4%, 7%, or 10% Movement SPD. These are separate stack categories derived from the party's elements.
What does it do for Charged Attacks?
The weapon's CRIT DMG secondary stat supports critical damage, and its passive directly increases Charged Attack damage by 16% at R1, reaching 32% at R5. The Gimmick ATK thresholds also matter to attack damage that scales with ATK. Movement SPD is a mobility effect; it should not be counted as an attack bonus.
How should party composition guide its use?
Check the wielder's Elemental Type and count matching versus different party members before deciding what the passive supplies. The wielder always contributes one Gimmick stack, so the first ATK threshold is reached from the wielder alone. Additional same-type members can reach higher ATK thresholds, while different-type members contribute to Movement SPD thresholds. A mixed party does not make both categories interchangeable.
What does refinement change?
Ascension consumes the listed Mora and weapon materials. Refinement increases Charged Attack damage and the ATK and Movement SPD amounts at each threshold; at R5 these are 32% Charged Attack damage, up to 96% ATK, and up to 18% Movement SPD. Refinement consumes a duplicate bow, so its value depends on how often the charged attacks and party-derived bonuses matter.
How do other bows differ?
Alley Hunter accumulates damage while the wielder is off-field and loses it after more than four seconds on-field. Amos' Bow raises Normal and Charged Attack damage and adds damage based on arrow flight time. Aqua Simulacra provides CRIT DMG and a damage bonus when opponents are nearby, including off-field. Their conditions do not depend on the party's same-element and different-element counts in this way.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Only Charged Attack damage receives the stated direct damage bonus.
- ATK and Movement SPD depend on separate party-composition stack counts.
- Refinement consumes duplicate copies.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting the wielder as a different-type Theatrics stack; the wielder counts as one same-type Gimmick stack.
- Treating Movement SPD from Theatrics as damage or assuming its stacks also grant ATK.
