Understand The Viridescent Hunt
Useful when…
- A bow user who regularly lands Normal or Charged Attack hits and benefits from CRIT Rate.
- Combat against nearby groups where the Cyclone's attraction and repeated damage can help.
What triggers the Cyclone?
A hit from a Normal or Charged Attack has a 50% chance to generate the Cyclone. It attracts surrounding opponents and deals 40% of ATK as damage every 0.5 seconds for 4 seconds at R1. The effect can occur once every 14 seconds at R1; refinement raises the repeated damage to 80% of ATK and reduces the cooldown to 10 seconds at R5.
What does its stat contribute?
The secondary stat is CRIT Rate. Its passive instead supplies a chance-based area effect with repeated ATK-based damage and attraction. These are distinct benefits: the Cyclone requires a qualifying attack hit and its chance trigger, while CRIT Rate is a weapon stat rather than a passive condition.
When is the effect most practical?
The Cyclone is most relevant when opponents are close enough for the attraction and surrounding damage to matter. A wielder using Normal or Charged Attacks can attempt to trigger it, but the 50% chance and cooldown mean it cannot be relied on as constant grouping. The effect says surrounding opponents; it does not specify a universal pull strength or that every opponent can be moved.
How does refinement change it?
Ascension uses the listed materials and Mora. Refinement leaves the 50% trigger chance, 4-second duration, and 0.5-second damage interval as listed, while increasing each damage tick from 40% to 80% ATK and reducing the cooldown from 14 to 10 seconds. Refinement consumes another copy, so judge the value by how much the periodic Cyclone matters.
How do other bows compare?
Alley Hunter gains damage while its wielder is off-field and loses it after more than four seconds on-field. Amos' Bow boosts Normal and Charged Attack damage with an arrow-flight-time component. Aqua Simulacra grants CRIT DMG and a damage bonus when opponents are nearby, even off-field. These offer damage conditions rather than the Viridescent Hunt's chance-based attraction effect.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The Cyclone has only a 50% trigger chance on qualifying hits.
- A cooldown of 14 seconds at R1 limits how often it can occur.
- The effect requires nearby opponents for its attraction and area damage to be useful.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting every Normal or Charged Attack hit to generate a Cyclone; the chance is 50%.
- Treating the Cyclone as continuous crowd control despite its cooldown.
