Clara

Counter-based physical attacker who draws enemy attacks

Released Apr 26, 2023

Clara is a Physical Destruction character whose damage and protection interact with enemies attacking her. Her Talent reduces damage from enemy attacks and retaliates against attackers; her Ultimate reduces damage further, draws enemy attention, and enhances counters. Consider her when a fight’s enemy actions can feed those counterattacks.

Clara GUIDE

Understand Clara

Useful when…

  • Punishing enemies that attack Clara with counter damage.
  • Using her Ultimate to increase her chance of being targeted and enhance counters.
  • Hitting marked enemies with her Skill for additional damage.

Counter mechanics and marks

When enemy attacks hit Clara, her Talent reduces the damage she takes, marks those enemies with Mark of Counter, and retaliates with Physical damage. Her Skill hits all enemies, then deals an additional hit to enemies marked by Svarog; using the Skill removes all Marks of Counter. The Ultimate further reduces damage dealt to her and greatly increases the chance enemies target her for two turns. While its enhanced counter is available, Svarog counters when any ally is attacked, with increased damage to the attacker and half of that damage to adjacent enemies. The Ultimate’s enhanced counters can trigger up to two times.

Practical use and investment

Her value rises when enemies take actions that attack Clara or allies during the Ultimate’s enhanced-counter window. Her Technique increases the chance she will be attacked for two turns after entering battle. Use the Skill to cash in on current marks, remembering that it clears them. Ultimate and Talent levels are relevant to the enhanced and ordinary counter kit; Skill levels matter for its area hit and marked-target follow-up. Her abilities scale from ATK, and bonus traces include ATK and Physical damage. These are optional trace unlocks with separate costs and prerequisites, so prioritize them according to how often she is being used as a counter attacker.

Limitations and comparisons

Counter output depends on enemies attacking Clara or allies; an enemy that does not attack will not trigger the described retaliation. The Ultimate’s enhanced counters have a two-trigger limit, and its increased targeting chance lasts two turns. Skill use consumes all current Marks of Counter, so using it before marked targets are present forfeits that additional hit for those marks. Yunli is also listed as Physical Destruction, but the comparison entry gives no ability details; same element and path alone do not establish identical counter mechanics or make her a direct replacement.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • Her counter damage depends on enemy attacks and targeting behavior.
  • The Ultimate’s enhanced counters are limited in count, and the Skill clears all marks.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Using her Skill before enemies have Mark of Counter when expecting the bonus marked-target hit.
  • Assuming her Ultimate’s enhanced counter triggers without an ally being attacked.
  • Treating increased targeting chance as a guarantee that Clara will be attacked.
