Understand Adversarial
Useful when…
- A Hunt wearer in encounters where they can reliably land finishing blows.
- A temporary SPD boost matters more to the build than a persistent CRIT or damage effect.
What triggers the SPD boost?
When the wearer defeats an enemy, SPD increases by 10% at S1 or 18% at S5 for two turns. A defeat is required, so the effect is conditional on the wearer getting the final blow; merely attacking a weakened target does not meet the stated condition.
When should you consider it?
It suits a wearer who can often finish enemies and make practical use of the ensuing two-turn SPD window. In fights with few defeat opportunities, the effect may contribute little. Arrows offers CRIT Rate at battle start for three turns, whereas Cruising in the Stellar Sea gives CRIT Rate and has its own defeat-triggered ATK increase; neither is identical to Adversarial's SPD effect.
Improvement priorities
Promotion advances the Light Cone through six stages; the supplied examples list Credit and Hunt or Ancient materials for selected promotion steps. Superimposition improves the SPD bonus from 10% to 18%, while its duration remains two turns. Consider promotion for base stats and superimposition if the wearer gets enough defeats for the stronger bonus to matter.
A more specialized alternative
Baptism of Pure Thought raises CRIT DMG, gains additional CRIT DMG against debuffed targets, and activates a two-turn effect after the wearer attacks with Ultimate. That effect increases damage and lets Follow-Up ATKs ignore some DEF. It requires a different damage profile and trigger; its presence in the comparison does not establish it as a general replacement.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- SPD depends on the wearer defeating an enemy.
- The boost lasts two turns and offers no stated damage increase.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming an attack or assist triggers the effect without the wearer defeating the enemy.
- Treating the SPD increase as continuously active regardless of defeats.
