Understand In the Night
Useful when…
- A Hunt damage dealer who uses Basic ATKs, Skills, and Ultimates and can exceed 100 SPD.
- A build that benefits from the Light Cone's CRIT Rate while preserving enough CRIT DMG from other sources.
How does the speed scaling work?
At S1, the wearer gains 18% CRIT Rate. While in battle, each 10 SPD above 100 adds 6% damage to Basic ATKs and Skills and 12% CRIT DMG to Ultimate, up to six stacks. At S1, reaching the six-stack cap requires 60 SPD above 100. S5 raises the per-stack bonuses to 10% and 20%, respectively; the threshold and stack cap do not change.
What does it suit, and what are the alternatives?
This Light Cone's scaling favors a wearer with SPD above the 100 baseline and damage distributed across Basic ATKs, Skills, and Ultimate. The CRIT Rate is unconditional, but the other bonuses depend on speed thresholds and apply to specified attack types. Adversarial grants SPD only after defeating an enemy, while Arrows grants CRIT Rate at battle start for 3 turns. Baptism of Pure Thought has CRIT DMG and effects tied to enemy debuffs and Ultimate use. These effects differ in their triggers and should be compared against the wearer's actual kit.
What is worth investing in?
Promotion raises the Light Cone through six stages. Superimposition increases the CRIT Rate and per-stack damage bonuses, but each shown step uses a duplicate copy. Promotion is useful when base stats are the priority; superimposition is a copy-consuming refinement for a wearer who uses the relevant attack types and speed scaling.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Basic ATK and Skill bonuses require SPD above 100 and scale in 10-SPD increments.
- Ultimate receives CRIT DMG rather than the Basic ATK and Skill damage bonus.
- Superimposition consumes duplicate copies.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not treat the speed bonus as applying to every attack type; Basic ATK and Skill gain damage, while Ultimate gains CRIT DMG.
- Do not count SPD at or below 100 toward the stacks.
