Understand Shadowed by Night
Useful when…
- A wearer whose build values Break Effect.
- A wearer who can benefit from the SPD increase at battle entry and after dealing Break damage.
How do the SPD triggers work?
The wearer gains 28% Break Effect at S1, rising to 56% at S5. Entering battle or dealing Break damage increases SPD for two turns: 8% at S1, up to 12% at S5. The effect can trigger only once per turn. The entry trigger means it can provide SPD before a Break damage trigger occurs; multiple triggers in the same turn do not exceed the stated once-per-turn limit.
When should I choose it?
Consider it for a Hunt wearer whose attacks can contribute to Break damage and who benefits from Break Effect and temporary SPD. If the wearer rarely deals Break damage, the battle-entry trigger remains but the repeated condition may matter less. Adversarial increases SPD after defeating an enemy for two turns, while Arrows grants CRIT Rate at the start of battle for three turns. Baptism of Pure Thought gives CRIT DMG with debuff-dependent scaling and an Ultimate-triggered effect; these alternatives have different stats and conditions.
How should I invest?
Promotion improves the Light Cone’s level. Superimposition raises Break Effect and the SPD amount, while the two-turn duration and once-per-turn trigger cap remain fixed. Each step consumes a duplicate copy; prioritize that investment when the wearer can use the Break Effect and SPD.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The SPD increase lasts two turns and can trigger only once per turn.
- Break Effect is the primary stat, which may not match a CRIT-focused build.
- Superimposition consumes duplicate copies.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming each Break damage instance in one turn triggers another SPD increase.
- Confusing the battle-entry trigger with the Break damage trigger.
- Treating the SPD bonus as permanent.
