Understand Sleep Like the Dead
Useful when…
- Adding CRIT DMG to a Hunt damage dealer.
- Making a non-CRIT Basic ATK or Skill trigger a short CRIT Rate increase, subject to its cooldown.
Effects and trigger
At S1, the Light Cone increases the wearer's CRIT DMG by 30%. If the wearer's Basic ATK or Skill DMG does not CRIT, it grants 36% CRIT Rate for 1 turn. This effect can trigger only once every 3 turns. At S5, the bonuses become 50% CRIT DMG and 60% CRIT Rate; the duration and trigger interval remain 1 and 3 turns.
Practical use and alternatives
The CRIT Rate effect is conditional, brief, and limited by its three-turn trigger interval; the persistent benefit is the CRIT DMG. Arrows instead provides CRIT Rate at the start of battle for 3 turns. Adversarial grants SPD for 2 turns after the wearer defeats an enemy. Baptism of Pure Thought offers CRIT DMG with additional target-specific value from debuffs and an Ultimate-triggered effect for Follow-Up ATKs. Compare those triggers with the wearer's actual attacks and the encounter rather than assuming they are interchangeable.
Investment
Promotion raises the Light Cone's level. Superimposition consumes another copy and increases the CRIT bonuses, but not the one-turn duration or three-turn trigger interval. Promotion is the straightforward progression choice; pursue higher superimposition when the stronger bonuses justify using another copy.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its CRIT Rate effect requires a Basic ATK or Skill that fails to CRIT.
- The CRIT Rate increase lasts only 1 turn and can trigger only once every 3 turns.
- Superimposition requires another copy.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the CRIT Rate bonus as permanent or available every turn.
- Expecting an Ultimate that does not qualify as Basic ATK or Skill DMG to trigger it.
- Comparing it to Baptism of Pure Thought without accounting for that Light Cone's debuff and Ultimate conditions.
