Understand Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters
Useful when…
- Dealing damage to enemies that maintain multiple debuffs.
- Taking advantage of the doubled four-piece effects for 1 turn after the wearer inflicts a debuff.
What do the piece bonuses require?
Two pieces increase damage dealt to enemies with debuffs by 12%. Four pieces add 4% CRIT Rate. The wearer also deals 8% more CRIT DMG to enemies with at least 2 debuffs, or 12% more CRIT DMG when they have at least 3 debuffs. After the wearer inflicts a debuff on an enemy, the aforementioned effects increase by 100% for 1 turn.
When is it a practical fit?
Its conditions reward a wearer who attacks debuffed enemies and can help maintain a debuff count, especially at the 3-debuff threshold. The post-application window is brief, so its value depends on the wearer actually inflicting a debuff and making use of the following 1 turn. Wastelander of Banditry Desert also benefits from debuffed targets, but its listed bonuses include Imaginary DMG and a separate CRIT DMG condition for Imprisoned targets.
What can interrupt the benefit?
The two-piece damage increase requires a debuffed target, and the larger four-piece CRIT DMG value requires at least 3 debuffs. The set's extra 100% increase is temporary after the wearer inflicts a debuff; do not assume it stays active outside that 1-turn window.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The target must have debuffs for the two-piece damage bonus and the conditional CRIT DMG bonuses.
- The doubled effects after the wearer inflicts a debuff last only 1 turn.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the higher CRIT DMG bonus without at least 3 debuffs on the target.
- Assuming the post-debuff increase lasts longer than 1 turn.
