Understand Copper Sword
Useful when…
- Fighting mobs and other entities at close range.
- Breaking cobwebs quickly as the correct tool.
- Using sword enchantments such as Looting, Knockback, Unbreaking, or Mending.
Combat and attack speed
The supplied attack table gives 5 HP normal and 8 HP critical damage, but the reading places those figures under Bedrock-specific damage text, so their applicability to Java 26.3 is unclear. The Java attack-speed attribute modifier is −2.4; it is not itself a direct attack interval. Sharpness, Smite, and Bane of Arthropods increase damage in their respective situations and are mutually exclusive.
Cobwebs and block use
The sword is the correct tool for cobwebs and breaks them at speed 15. Its tool rules also specify speed for sword-instantly-mined and sword-efficient blocks. Breaking a block that does not break instantly by hand costs 2 durability, so repeated block breaking can wear it down. The reading describes Silk Touch cobweb drops only for swords enchanted through Creative mode or commands; it does not establish this as ordinary Java survival acquisition.
Repair and enchantments
The sword has 190 maximum durability. Anvil unit repair with a copper ingot restores 25% of maximum durability, rounded down. Combining two damaged swords in an anvil adds their durability plus a 5% bonus and preserves enchantments; enchantment preservation is not established for every combining method. Unbreaking can reduce durability consumption, Mending repairs the sword when experience is obtained, and Looting increases drops from kills. Sweeping Edge is Java-only.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Cobweb breaking is especially fast, but ordinary block breaking costs 2 durability per block.
- Sharpness, Smite, and Bane of Arthropods require choosing one.
- Anvil unit repair uses copper ingots; Mending requires obtaining experience.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using it for repeated block breaking without accounting for the 2-durability cost per non-instant block.
- Expecting to combine Sharpness, Smite, and Bane of Arthropods.
- Treating the listed damage values as established Java 26.3 values.
