Understand Quick Charge
Useful when…
- Shortening the pause between repeated crossbow shots.
- Reducing a fully loaded crossbow’s loading time from 1.25 seconds to 0.5 seconds at level III.
Loading time
Each level removes 0.25 seconds from the crossbow’s loading time. A regular crossbow takes 1.25 seconds, while Quick Charge III reduces that to 0.5 seconds. [mc-29:reading]
When it helps
Quick Charge is useful when you reload and fire a crossbow repeatedly, because it shortens the pause before each shot. Its effect is loading speed rather than projectile damage. [mc-29:reading]
Applicability and level limits
Quick Charge applies to crossbows and has a maximum level of III. If commands or Creative mode apply it to a bow or trident, it does not function. In Java, command-created levels V or higher make the crossbow load instantly; these exceed the ordinary maximum. [mc-29:record, mc-29:reading]
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Improves loading speed rather than damage per projectile.
- Its practical value depends on reloading the crossbow.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting Quick Charge to increase projectile damage.
- Expecting it to function on a bow or trident.
- Treating command-created levels above III as ordinary progression.
