Tools & weaponsA copper hoe tills eligible ground, changes coarse or rooted dirt, and breaks supported plant, Nether fungus, and sculk blocks more quickly. Tilling is effectively instantaneous but has block and overhead-space restrictions.
ArmorCopper leggings provide 3 armor points in the legs slot. Consider them for basic protection, or for Swift Sneak if sneaking movement speed matters; they have 165 durability and use copper ingots for anvil repairs.
Tools & weaponsThe Java 26.3 copper pickaxe mines pickaxe-mineable blocks at speed 5 and can collect the same blocks as a stone pickaxe. Use it as an early mining tool when its tier is sufficient; it cannot harvest several higher-tier ores or obsidian.

EquipmentDensity increases the extra damage from a mace smash attack according to how far the wielder has fallen. Consider it when you can reliably land smash attacks; it does not add the listed bonus to ordinary hits.
Tools & weaponsIn Java Edition 26.3, the mace has 6 HP base damage, an attack speed of 0.6, an attack range of 3 blocks, and 500 durability. A smash attack activates after a qualifying fall and adds damage based on fall distance. Its distinctive use is fall-based burst damage.
EquipmentWind Burst triggers when the direct attacker is not flying and has fallen at least 1.5 blocks before hitting with a mace. Its explosion launches the attacker upward; listed knockback multipliers are 1.2×, 1.75×, and 2.2× at levels I–III. Grounded attacks do not activate it.
Tools & weaponsUse a brush on suspicious sand or suspicious gravel to uncover their loot, or on an armadillo to obtain a scute. It has 64 maximum durability. Brushing ordinary blocks creates an animation but does not damage the block or the brush.

ArmorSwift Sneak raises movement speed while sneaking and crawling, making it useful when moving cautiously without giving up as much ground. Consider it for exploration where sneaking speed matters; it is an enchantment for leggings, not boots.
Tools & weaponsThe Netherite Axe is a high-tier axe for chopping wood-related blocks, stripping logs, and scraping wax or oxidation from copper. In Java Edition it also hits hard and disables a shield user's shield for 5 seconds, but its one-second recovery makes it slower in sustained attacks than a sword. Consider upgrading a diamond axe when its extra durability, mining efficiency, attack damage, and fire resistance as a dropped item justify the smithing materials.
ArmorNetherite Boots provide 3 armor points, 3 armor toughness, and 10% knockback resistance. Consider upgrading diamond boots when those defensive properties and the durability and fire resistance of netherite gear are worth the smithing cost; the boot slot also supports fall protection, underwater movement, soul-sand speed, or Frost Walker's ice trail.
ArmorThe Netherite Chestplate is a chest-slot defensive upgrade providing 8 armor points, 3 armor toughness, and 10% knockback resistance. Consider it when upgrading diamond armor for durable protection; its high durability and netherite fire resistance support long-term use, while chestplate enchantments let you tailor damage reduction or longevity.
ArmorThe Netherite Helmet provides 3 armor points, 3 armor toughness, and 10% knockback resistance. Consider upgrading a diamond helmet when the defensive benefits, durability, and fire resistance of netherite gear justify the ingot and template. Respiration and Aqua Affinity add clear value for underwater exploration and mining.
Tools & weaponsThe Netherite Hoe tills eligible soil instantly and harvests plant-based blocks more quickly. Use it for farm preparation and repeated plant-block harvesting; its netherite upgrade adds durability and mining speed over a diamond hoe. In Java Edition, it is a poor combat choice.
ArmorNetherite Leggings occupy the legs armor slot and provide 6 armor points, 3 armor toughness, and 10% knockback resistance. They have 555 durability and can be upgraded from diamond leggings with a netherite ingot and smithing template.
Tools & weaponsThe Netherite Pickaxe mines pickaxe-effective blocks at speed 9, with 2,031 durability. Use it for sustained mining and for blocks that require a high-tier pickaxe; its mining level is functionally the same as diamond's, so it does not unlock blocks diamond cannot mine.
Tools & weaponsThe Netherite Shovel breaks shovel-effective soil blocks at speed 9 and can create dirt paths or extinguish campfires. Use it for digging and terrain work; its Java attack is slow, so it is a situational weapon rather than a dedicated combat tool.
Tools & weaponsThe Netherite Sword deals 8 HP base damage on a fully charged Java hit and has a −2.4 attack-speed modifier. Use it for regular melee combat and consider upgrading an enchanted diamond sword for greater durability and attack damage.
ArmorSoul Speed increases walking speed on compatible soul sand and soul soil and removes soul sand’s slowness. Its benefit is tied to those blocks, making it relevant to routes built over compatible soul terrain.
Tools & weaponsHold a Warped Fungus on a Stick to attract nearby striders, and use it to steer a saddled strider in the direction you face. Its use control boosts speed for a variable duration and consumes durability, making it a specialist travel item for strider riding.
Tools & weaponsThe Crossbow lets you charge a shot in advance, then fire it with a separate use. It can launch arrows or firework rockets and has 465 durability. Quick Charge, Multishot, and Piercing provide different listed effects for reloading and projectiles.
EquipmentMultishot makes a crossbow fire two additional projectiles in different directions while consuming one arrow. In Java Edition, only one arrow from a shot can damage the same mob, and each projectile uses one durability point.
EquipmentPiercing lets arrows fired from a crossbow pass through multiple entities in a straight line. Consider it when one shot can line up several targets or when you want to recover arrows after they pass through mobs.
EquipmentQuick Charge reduces crossbow loading time by 0.25 seconds per level, up to level III. It helps when you need to reload between shots; it does not increase projectile damage. [mc-29:reading]
EquipmentChanneling summons lightning when a thrown trident hits an entity or a sky-visible lightning rod during a thunderstorm. The target entity does not always need open sky: lightning summoned by a valid nearby hit can affect nearby mobs. [mc-5:record, mc-5:reading]
EquipmentImpaling adds 2.5 damage per level to a trident hit against aquatic mobs in Java. Consider it when fighting those targets with melee or thrown attacks; in Java it does not gain the broader water-and-rain effect described for Bedrock.
EquipmentLoyalty makes a thrown trident return to its owner after it hits a block or entity, with higher levels increasing its return speed. Consider it when you want to retrieve a thrown trident instead of leaving it at the impact point.
EquipmentUse Riptide on a trident when you want to propel yourself through water or rain, including to gain height, cover distance, or boost while wearing elytra. It replaces the trident’s ordinary throwing behavior: it can be used only while standing in water or exposed to rain, or while underwater. Higher levels increase launch distance. Tools & weaponsThe Trident deals 9 HP in Java melee and can be charged and thrown for 8 HP ranged damage. Loyalty supports retrieval, Channeling can summon lightning under its Java conditions, and Riptide launches the player instead of throwing the trident. It has 250 maximum durability and is repaired by combining it with another trident.
ArmorThe Turtle Shell occupies the head slot and lets its wearer stay underwater for an extra 10 seconds before needing air. Consider it for underwater exploration or work where brief access to air can refresh that breathing time; it also provides 2 armor points.
EquipmentSweeping Edge increases damage dealt to nearby entities by Java sword sweep attacks. Sweeps are available without the enchantment; Sweeping Edge does not increase damage to the directly attacked target.
