Tools & weaponsNetherite Axe
Introduced in Java 1.16Durable high-tier wood tool and slow, heavy melee weaponGuideThe Netherite Axe is a high-tier axe for chopping wood-related blocks, stripping logs, and scraping wax or oxidation from copper. In Java Edition it also hits hard and disables a shield user's shield for 5 seconds, but its one-second recovery makes it slower in sustained attacks than a sword. Consider upgrading a diamond axe when its extra durability, mining efficiency, attack damage, and fire resistance as a dropped item justify the smithing materials.
