Understand Aerial Bond
Useful when…
- Shorten Companion Recovery Time through airborne kills, especially headshot kills.
- Create a larger cold field by staying airborne, with a brief carryover after landing.
Airborne effects
Kills made while airborne reduce Companion Recovery Time by 0.5 seconds at rank 0 and 3 seconds at rank 5; headshot kills reduce it by 1.5 and 9 seconds respectively. Separately, the companion creates a cold field that grows while the Warframe is airborne. At rank 0 it reaches up to 10% and a 2.5 m radius; at rank 5 it reaches up to 35% and a 10 m radius. The field lasts 3 seconds after returning to the ground.
Use and alternatives
The mod fits a Companion slot and Vazarin polarity. Its two benefits ask for airborne play: airborne kills affect recovery, and time in the air grows the cold field. If recovery alone is the goal, Tenacious Bond also reduces recovery on headshot kills, while its separate critical-damage benefit requires the companion to exceed 50% Critical Chance. Covert Bond instead grants companion stealth after finisher and Mercy kills. Those effects have distinct triggers and do not reproduce Aerial Bond’s cold field.
Ranking investment
Aerial Bond has five ranks, base drain 2, and costs 30 Endo plus 1,449 credits for the first listed rank step. The airborne recovery reduction and field strength/radius increase with rank; at rank 5 they reach the stated maxima of 3 seconds (9 seconds for headshots), 35%, and 10 m. Further example steps include 120 Endo and 5,796 credits from rank 2 to 3, and 480 Endo and 23,184 credits from rank 4 to 5. Rank it if those stronger effects matter in your airborne play; otherwise, its conditional field may not warrant the later costs.
What to keep in mind
The recovery reduction is tied to airborne kills, and the larger cold field requires remaining airborne to build. Its listed duration after landing is only 3 seconds. Do not expect the field to keep growing while grounded, or mistake its recovery effect for a general reduction unrelated to kills.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Benefits depend on airborne play and airborne kills.
- Consumes a companion mod slot that could support another specific trigger or utility.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting airborne kill benefits from kills made on the ground.
- Assuming the cold field persists longer than 3 seconds after landing.
