Understand Brain Storm
Useful when…
- Trigger the effect with headshots while using a compatible Grakata.
- Rank it to improve the chance and duration of the ammo effect.
Trigger and effect
At rank 0, a headshot has a 10% chance to grant infinite ammo for 0.5 seconds. At rank 2, the chance is 30% and duration 2 seconds; at rank 3, it is 40% for 2 seconds. The effect is chance-based and requires a headshot.
Compatibility and use
Brain Storm is a Conclave-variant mod compatible with the Grakata. It has Madurai polarity, base drain 10, and maximum rank 3. Its benefit is temporary ammo sustain, not a general damage bonus.
Ranking tradeoff
Rank raises both proc chance and duration, although duration reaches 2 seconds by rank 2 and does not increase at rank 3 in the supplied effects. The final rank increases chance from 30% to 40%. The listed step from rank 2 to 3 costs 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits, so weigh that chance increase against the mod's base drain of 10.
Distinction from Wild Frenzy
Wild Frenzy is a standard Grakata mod with a different trigger and effect: secondary fire gains +400% fire rate until the magazine is empty, and killing 2 or more enemies refunds 100% of ammo. It is not the same headshot-triggered temporary infinite-ammo effect as Brain Storm.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Chance-based effect depends on headshots.
- Base drain is 10, and the final rank costs Endo and Credits for a 10 percentage-point chance increase over rank 2.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming every headshot activates the infinite-ammo effect.
- Treating Wild Frenzy's secondary-fire and kill-triggered ammo refund as Brain Storm's effect.
