Understand Crescent Devolution
Useful when…
- Keep a downed Crescent Vulpaphyla involved in combat while it recovers its true form.
- Increase the larval charge's Puncture damage by fusing the mod.
What happens when the Vulpaphyla is downed?
On being downed, the Crescent Vulpaphyla devolves into larval form and charges at enemies. It deals 25 Puncture damage at rank 0 and 100 at rank 3. The pet regains its true form after 30 seconds; the listed duration does not change with rank.
When is it useful, and what does it fit?
Use it when you want a downed Crescent Vulpaphyla to charge nearby enemies rather than remain inactive throughout the recovery period. It is compatible with Crescent Vulpaphyla and is a standard precept with the Penjaga polarity. The charge is the described effect; the input does not establish additional pet healing or protection.
How much should you rank it?
Rank it for the charge damage if that contribution matters to your pet setup: damage rises from 25 at rank 0 to 75 at rank 2 and 100 at rank 3. The final rank costs 120 Endo and 2,898 Credits from rank 2 to 3. The 30-second return interval is unchanged, so leaving it below maximum preserves resources while retaining the same stated recovery timing.
How does Crescent Charge differ?
Crescent Charge is another Crescent Vulpaphyla precept. Its described effect is an active charge against an enemy within 25 m that lifts the target and flings it at nearby foes, dealing additional damage based on the thrown enemy's health and adding Puncture status within 5 m. Crescent Devolution instead specifically activates when the pet is downed and describes a 30-second return to true form. Choose based on the trigger and effect you want; the candidate's description alone does not establish that one replaces the other's role in a build.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its Puncture damage increases with rank, but its 30-second return period does not.
- The effect requires the pet to be downed; it is not described as a routine charge while the pet is in true form.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the 30-second return interval to shorten with rank.
- Treating the downed-state charge as an always-active attack.
