Understand Critical Delay
Useful when…
- Raise critical chance on a compatible rifle or bow while accepting reduced fire rate.
- Choose a partial rank to limit the paired fire-rate penalty and fusion cost.
What changes with rank and weapon type?
At rank 0, it grants +33.3% critical chance and -3.3% fire rate, with the fire-rate penalty doubled for bows. At rank 3, the effects are +133.3% and -13.3% (twice the penalty for bows); at rank 5, +200% and -20% (again doubled for bows). The critical chance bonus is stated separately from the bow-specific penalty.
Compatibility and choices
Critical Delay is a standard Rifle mod with Naramon polarity and base drain 4. It is explicitly incompatible with Point Strike and Flawed Point Strike. Point Strike gives a smaller listed critical chance bonus without a stated fire-rate reduction. Aerial Ace is an Exilus mod whose listed effect refreshes double jump on kills while airborne; that movement effect does not perform the same role as a critical chance mod.
Rank investment
The maximum rank is 5. Rank 3 offers +133.3% critical chance with -13.3% fire rate, while rank 5 reaches +200% with -20%; bows take twice those fire-rate reductions. The final step from rank 4 to 5 costs 480 Endo and 23,184 Credits, four times the listed rank 2 to 3 step. A lower rank can be a reasonable stopping point when its critical chance is sufficient or the firing penalty is already noticeable.
Acquisition
The listed acquisition location is a Derelict Vault. Treat the provided chance as a snapshot listing rather than a guarantee of current availability.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The critical chance increase comes with reduced fire rate, and bows receive twice the fire-rate penalty.
- It cannot be equipped alongside Point Strike or Flawed Point Strike.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Forgetting that bows receive twice the listed fire-rate reduction.
- Trying to equip it with Point Strike or Flawed Point Strike.
