Understand Enkaus
Useful when…
- Using primary fire against targets, including inked targets
- Using the alternate projectile attack and its separate radial attack
What is the ink effect?
The weapon description says that damaging inked enemies at low health instantly kills and dissolves them. Shooting inked enemies also siphons ink back into the Enkaus. The instant-kill effect is conditional on the target being inked and at low health; the description does not give a threshold or an amount of ink restored.
How do its attacks handle?
Primary fire is a held-trigger hit-scan attack with a listed speed of 12, 16% critical chance, a 1.8× critical multiplier, and 32% status chance. It deals Puncture and Corrosive damage and uses a 60-round magazine. Alt-Fire is a projectile attack with a listed attack speed of 2 and its own direct damage profile. The separate Alt-Fire Radial Attack is an area attack with falloff from 0 to 8 and a listed 0.5 reduction. The attack speed of Alt-Fire does not specify projectile travel speed.
How do other rifles differ?
Afentis is a speargun whose thrown weapon can pin and stun enemies or buff nearby allies. Trumna is described as a heavy automatic rifle with a secondary arcing projectile that ricochets and explodes on impact. Alternox has electrical primary and alternate attacks, including an alternate-fire ball that sticks to surfaces and pulses before exploding. Their described mechanics differ from Enkaus's ink-based finishing effect.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The instant-kill effect requires an inked target at low health.
- Alt-Fire is a projectile attack; its radial attack has its own falloff.
- Primary fire uses a 60-round magazine and has a listed 2.2-second reload.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not expect the instant-kill effect on targets that are not inked or are not at low health.
- Do not confuse Alt-Fire's attack speed with projectile travel speed, or its projectile attack with the separate radial attack.
