Understand Haalvu
Useful when…
- Use normal fire for automatic hit-scan shots with a large magazine and quick listed reload.
- Use alt-fire when you want the split rifles to track up to four targets and can account for higher ammunition use.
Normal fire
The normal attack is automatic hit-scan fire at 13 shots per second, with 25% critical chance, a 2.5× critical multiplier, and 19% status chance. The weapon-level damage lists 33 Tau damage, but the attack-level damage object is empty; therefore a per-mode damage value cannot be assigned from the attack record. The magazine holds 150 rounds and reload time is one second.
Alt-fire and its cost
Alt-fire is listed separately at 12 shots per second, 20% critical chance, a 1.8× critical multiplier, and 26% status chance. Its description says the weapon splits into rifles that track up to four targets at once, while consuming more ammunition per shot. The attack-level damage object is also empty here, so no numeric alt-fire damage can be stated.
Build and alternatives
The two modes have different listed critical and status chances, so investment should reflect which mode you use; no upgrade tracks are listed. Basmu is described with explosive bolts or chain-capable plasma beams and a health-leech effect when its regenerative battery is drained. Acceltra instead fires rapid plasma rockets, while Kuva Quartakk distinguishes hip-fire automatic fire from four simultaneous aimed shots. These are specific alternate handling options, not established substitutes for Haalvu’s four-target tracking alt-fire.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Alt-fire consumes more ammunition per shot than normal fire.
- The supplied per-attack damage entries are empty, so damage cannot be compared numerically between modes.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming alt-fire uses the same ammunition per shot as normal fire.
- Assigning the weapon-level Tau damage value to each attack mode when their attack-level damage entries are empty.
