Understand Masseter Prime
Useful when…
- Use normal attacks for the listed Impact and Slash damage, 26% critical chance, and 36% status chance.
- When wielded by Grendel, perform heavy attacks when its stated crowd-control immunity is relevant.
Normal attack profile
Normal attacks list 260 total damage: 145.6 Impact and 114.4 Slash. They have 26% critical chance, a 2.2× critical multiplier, and 36% status chance. Listed attack speed is about 1.083 and range is 2.9 m.
Grendel’s heavy-attack condition
The Masseter Prime description ties crowd-control immunity to Grendel performing heavy attacks with the weapon. The base Masseter description says Grendel is immune to staggers and knockdowns during heavy attacks. The supplied descriptions use different wording, but do not establish how those effects compare in scope.
Slam modes
The standard slam is an AoE Impact attack listed at 520 damage, with 10% status chance and 50% falloff by 10 m. The heavy slam is an AoE Blast attack listed at 780 damage, with 10% status chance and 30% falloff by 10 m. These are distinct from the normal attack and from the Grendel heavy-attack condition.
Other weapon profiles
The base Masseter is a heavy blade with a Mastery requirement of 8, 24% critical chance, and a 2× critical multiplier. Harmony is a Rank 10 scythe whose heavy attacks condense Status Effect damage and whose heavy-attack kills increase allies’ Status Duration. Quassus is a Rank 8 warfan that scatters ethereal daggers, described as more accurate when wielded by Xaku. They have different weapon types and stated effects.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Requires Mastery Rank 14.
- The listed crowd-control immunity is conditional on Grendel performing heavy attacks with the weapon.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not treat Grendel’s immunity as an always-on effect or as applying to other wielders.
- Do not confuse the heavy slam’s AoE Blast profile with the heavy-attack condition in the description.
